Design in the Wild
I spend a lot of time in my studio.
The only time I go outside is for work or if my wife forces me outside to eat something. But there are so many benefits to getting outside and staying outside for at least an hour or two the first one is fresh air.
As a grown man who is a sizable adult you can get funky in that studio or lab making all the things that you make on a daily basis. It’s good to go outside. Maybe wash yourself first. Go to the mall and walk around look at all the cool fashion things. Be inspired by different trends that’s happening different styles new graphics that aren’t your own. Pinterest and behance as well as all these other websites are great, but there’s something about seeing design in the wild. A Barnes and Noble bookshelf or a graphic T shirt on the shelf. I love going to the nerdy shop and looking at Pokémon cards because that’s illustration and design coming together. That’s my whole passion but it outside of my house. I get to talk to people. Which is the richest resource for inspiration is people talking people reminiscing about things from a By-gone era, which apparently is mine.
Go outside.
